LIMA — Lima is receiving good recognition for how it handles grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Community Development Director Amy Sackman Odum presented a report on 2015 HOME fund spending during Lima City Council’s Monday meeting. She said the city has been ranked third out of 22 Ohio communities for efficiency on HUD’s HOME Snapshot ranking, as well as 30th out of 579 jurisdictions throughout the country. The report takes several criteria into account, including how timely the funds were spent, how well they were leveraged to secure other funds, how many low- to moderate-income families were helped with rental properties or mortgages, and how closely a community was able to follow its fund dispersal plan. “We have worked very hard over the last year and a half to achieve that ranking,” Sackman Odum said.
