Committee Rejects Measure That Would Pay Abelove's Legal Bills

TROY — Rensselaer County lawmakers rejected a measure that would have approved spending up to $50,000 in tax dollars for District Attorney Joel Abelove's legal expenses as he faces a grand jury investigation of his controversial handling of the April 2016 fatal shooting of a DWI suspect by a Troy police officer.The county legislature's judiciary committee rejected the proposal 2-1 at a meeting Tuesday afternoon.
