Glenn Merkosky inducted into AHL Hall of Fame

Verona Loyalty took a 180-degree turn for Glenn Merkosky. The most iconic player in the Adirondack Red Wings' 20-year history, Merkosky was a part of the American Hockey League's 13th Hall of Fame class Monday at Turning Stone Resort. Merkosky, after first playing in Glens Falls in 1985, lives in the area and remains employed by the parent Detroit Red Wings, who signed him as a depth player. Among those on hand for the induction ceremony, held in conjunction with the AHL All-Star Classic at nearby Utica, were Detroit general manager Ken Holland, hockey Hall of Famer Mark Howe and former Adirondack forward Jody Gage. "Unfortunately, I didn't get to play with you," Gage said in a video tribute.
