Fort McAllister Historic Park, known for its living-history programs, hosted visitors to a variety of demonstrations as well as events park guests could participate in on Friday. Activities included Civil War-era baseball, wheelbarrow races, sack races, park staff and living history actors dressed in Civil War period attire firing black powder muskets and cannon, processing wool on a spinning wheel, singing a cappella songs, giving lectures on the life of common Civil War soldiers and serving slices of ice cold watermelon. Park Manager Jason Carter said by noon more than 200 people had visited the fort.
