It's not easy for D.J. Banks to leave his Colorado Springs home. But he had an incentive to go outside Thursday. He was headed downtown to a protest in front of the Pioneers Museum supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, which was created within the African-American community to bring attention to violence against black people. "As a young black man," Banks said, "it's really bad because sometimes I'm scared to go out and walk out of my own house, fearing that I'd be racially judged." The 19-year-old Doherty High School graduate was glad to see dozens of people show up on Tejon Street with signs and chants of support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
