A Colorado Springs man told police he was aiming at a raccoon on a utility pole early Wednesday when he accidentally shot himself in the leg with a handgun. The shooting was reported just after midnight in the 2500 block of Weston Road on the city's southeast side, police said. The man was found with an apparent gunshot wound in his lower leg. Don Upshaw, 67, was taken to a hospital to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said. He was cited on suspicion of illegally firing a gun in city limits.
