A fire that killed a dog and three cats in a northeast Colorado Springs home Tuesday afternoon started after a kitchen stove was left on, fire investigators said in a news release Wednesday. The Colorado Springs Fire Department ruled the fire accidental after "a control knob on the kitchen stove was in the ON position and had started the fire in the kitchen area," the news release said. At least 30 firefighters responded to the fire at 2925 Haystack Drive shortly after 12 p.m.
