Colorado Springs Homeless Shelter To Combat Pests By Installing New Beds

The Salvation Army's R.J. Montgomery Center plans to begin installing new beds Saturday with the aim of reducing or eliminating bed bugs.The nonprofit recently received a $50,000 grant from The Anschutz Foundation to help purchase new bunk bed frames for the 200-bed homeless shelter.Bed frames for men will be installed Saturday, and bed frames for women and children will be installed at a later date."The overall cleanliness is really, really going to improve there," said Jeane Turner, a spokeswoman for the nonprofit.The project cost $80,000, meaning the nonprofit must pay the remaining $30,000 or seek additional grant funding.Bed bugs have been known to sneak into cracks in the old wood bunk beds, whichRead more on Colorado Springs Gazette
