GRAND JUNCTION - Politicians from across the state gathered in Grand Junction Friday night for the annual kickoff of campaign season. Club 20, a powerful lobby group representing the Western Slope, traditionally holds the first debates of the fall election cycle, and on Saturday the group will pit Sen. Michael Bennet against El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn in their first debate. Bennet, an incumbent Democrat who has aired or reserved almost $9 million worth of TV ads, can only hurt his sizable lead over Glenn. Glenn, who dominated the five-man Republican primary, hasn't reserved any TV ads and polls show he is trailing by double digits. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
