MIAMI — The day before Florida’s 2016 presidential primary, the state attorney general, Pam Bondi, surprised her fellow Republicans and endorsed Donald Trump at a rally in Tampa, her hometown.
Her first choice, former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida, had recently dropped out. Sen. Marco Rubio, another Floridian, remained in the race, though just barely.
It’s the weather.
No matter how hard you yearn for yuletide, it can be a little tricky to cuddle up to the Christmas spirit here in the subtropics where a December cold snap means highs of 70 degrees. (Brrrr … says the rest of the country in a sarcastic Grinchy tone.)

But as she prepared to collect her $779 payout, the machine’s screen went blue and then, when the manager opened the machine’s door, went blank, she said in a complaint filed with the Florida Gaming Control Commission.
A few minutes later, co-owner Chi-Min Wu showed up and refused to pay Smith, claiming the machine had malfunctioned, Smith said in an interview with the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
“Oh, no, I can’t pay you,” Wu said, as Smith remembers it.

The inspector general’s office for the State Department of Education ordered the school district to conduct an “independent review” of allegations made against board members Jeff Holness, Sarah Leonardi and Allen Zeman.
The district submitted the findings to the state Wednesday afternoon.
Nathalie Lynch-Walsh, a longtime volunteer with the district as well as one of its most vocal critics, filed a series of complaints with the state this year alleging improper relationships between the three board members and vendors.
