Kirtland Schools will be looking for a new treasurer to replace Daniel L. Wilson, who is leaving the district after 3 1/2 years.The Kirtland School Board announced at its June 18 meeting that Wilson will not renew his contract that expires June 30.

A speed-skating team based out of Painesville's City Skate Center just returned from a trip to Colorado, where they made their American Roller Speed Skating Championship debut in Colorado Springs.

Who was Joseph Newton Chandler III? Authorities will reveal the true identity of the Eastlake man

U.S. Marshal for Northern Ohio Peter J. Elliott once compared attempts to find the true identity of Joseph Newtown Chandler III to chasing a ghost. On June 21 at 1 p.m., Elliott along with Eastlake Police Chief Larry Reik among others will announce the solving of one of Northeast Ohio's "biggest and most complex mysteries.

 

Lake Health offering introductory session to acupuncture

Community reportLake Health is inviting the public to enjoy an introductory session to acupuncture from 5 to 6 p.m., June 27, at the Mentor Wellness Campus, 8655 Market St.The introductory session is performed in a group setting and will allow participants to experience the benefits of acupuncture with a focus on reducing stress and boosting energy, according to a news release.

 

Johnnycake Ridge Golf Course housing plans proceeding in Mentor

Plans are progressing to redevelop Johnnycake Ridge Golf Course into homes.Mentor Planning Commission recently approved the preliminary subdivision of 108 residential lots at 7134 Mentor Ave. and amending a previous development plan for the property.

When I was a kid growing up in South Euclid, there was always The Lobster Pot.It was opened in 1972 by Ross Haffey, and when I left the area in 1990, it was still there. It was a fixture on Mayfield Road, near the intersection of South Green. I could walk there as a child, though I can't remember ever going.

Discount Tire project turned down by Mentor

Size apparently matters when it comes to what locates on the defunct Urban Roadhouse site in Mentor. The city's Planning Commission rejected Discount Tire's request to locate on the site after learning that the business couldn't operate in conformance with updated buffer requirements.
