Canadian counterparts buy pizzas for Seattle’s unpaid air traffic controllers

SEATTLE — Nice Canadians. They’re always good for a lift, eh?
Last week, Canadian air traffic controllers started buying pizzas for their American counterparts who are working but not getting paid due to the continued federal government shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history.

 

Boys basketball: Seton Catholic 76, Stevenson 68

Xavian Rushing scored 21 points to lead the Cougars to a Trico League win on the road.
Delano Morgan and Andrew Olson each scored 13 points. But it was Rushing’s play, including a monster dunk in the second quarter, that spurred Seton (11-3, 3-1).
“He absolutely was pivotal in the middle,” Cougars coach Kris Small said. “He did a great job attacking the rim.”
Seton took charge of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-9 to take a 67-51 lead.

 

Girls basketball: Ridgefield 62, Mark Morris 11

Karli Oliver and Grace Goode each scored 13 points to lead the Spudders to a 2A Greater St. Helens League win.
Devi Dugan added 12 points for Ridgefield (9-5, 3-3).
Mark Morris (0-12, 0-5) was held scoreless in the first quarter.
