OUR OPINION: Citizen response teams will fill important role

You can play a critical role to potentially save lives in the event of a severe-weather outbreak. Tornadoes are on everyone’s mind during this time of year, when outbreaks occur most frequently. And residents of Northeast Mississippi know well the devastating impact these storms can have. Memories remain strong from the 2014 tornado that tore through Tupelo and parts of Lee and Itawamba counties and the 2011 system that destroyed Smithville and brought damage to many other areas of the region and country.
