OUR OPINION: Parents play key role in success of students, districts

The success of a school district and its students relies on a number of different pieces of a puzzle all coming together.
One of the most critical pieces of that puzzle, you’ll often hear stated from those in the education community, is the role of the parent.

Felonies
The following people were booked into the Lee County-Tupelo Adult Jail in connection with felony charges ending Wednesday at 11 a.m.
• Terrick Beene, 20, of Shannon, was arrested by the Tupelo Police Department, armed robbery.
• Kamal Ewing, 19, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, violation of probation.

 

Longtime incumbent, challengers to meet in Ward 4 primary race

TUPELO – A long-serving incumbent in a diverse ward faces a pair of primary opponents next week.
Nettie Davis, 75, is a retired teacher completing a fourth term representing Ward 4 on the Tupelo City Council. Running as a Democrat, she hopes for a fifth term, but several other candidates have different ideas.
