Whether there are fewer drunken drivers on the road or fewer officers to catch them, DUI arrests have dropped by more than 50 percent over the past five years in Polk County, the Florida Uniform Traffic Citation Report says. In 2011, law enforcement departments across the county made 1,208 drunken driving arrests but in 2015, that number went down to 561.

Florida Polytechnic students will soon have a fancy, new place on campus to work out. The university announced Tuesday that in the coming months it will begin construction on a nearly $2 million wellness center with two pools. The new facility will be shaped like a phoenix, the Florida Poly mascot.
