Massachusetts man held without bail in death of ex

PITTSFIELD — Prosecutors say a Massachusetts man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend during an argument when she came to his home to pick up their children.Michael Boulais was held without bail after pleading not guilty Tuesday in district court in Pittsfield to a murder charge in the death last week of Kassedi Clark.Authorities say the 32-year-old Boulais shot the 24-year-old Clark multiple times with a 9 mm handgun in her car when she came to his Hinsdale home on Friday. An autopsy determined she suffered gunshot wounds to her head, torso and upper extremities.

 

Boy, 3, drowns in Woburn accident

Foul play is not suspected in last night's drowning of a 3-year-old child in a swimming pool in Woburn, authorities say.Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan and Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said in a joint statement the child was discovered in an in-ground pool on Marlborough Road at approximately 6 p.m. and was pronounced dead three hours later."The preliminary investigation suggests the child had been submerged ... for an extended period of time," the statement said.

 

Report: State troopers at Logan got vehicle per diems

BOSTON — Another previously hidden perk for Massachusetts State Police troopers has been revealed.The Boston Globe reports that state officials last week released information about more than $3.4 million in additional payouts over four years, most of which went to the unit that patrols Logan International Airport, in the form of $40-per-day payouts for troopers who drive personal vehicles to work.Some troopers earned up to $13,000 each year in per diems, adding to salaries that included five- and six-figure overtime payouts.

 

Parents of slain Parkland student to join gun violence forum

SPRINGFIELD  — The parents of a slain Parkland student will be in Springfield Friday to take part in a community conversation about gun violence.Organizers from the local chapter of March for Our Lives will host Manuel and Patricia Oliver, whose son Joaquin was killed during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in February.
