Six Kountze eighth-graders, wearing football jerseys over dress clothes and seated at a table in front of a red-and-white Lions banner, each picked up a pen and signed the sheet of paper in front of them, signing their commitments, just as they would at a ceremony for athletic scholarships.
The students - five boys and one girl - flanked by teachers and parents,
participated in a mock signing day Wednesday to kick off a program called "Coaching Boys into Men" that will start this spring. The students will lead their peers in discussions about violence against women, harassment and bullying.
