More damage discovered at Tyrrell Historical Library, reopening rescheduled

The Tyrrell Historical Library, which sustained mold damage during Tropical Storm Harvey, likely will be closed until early next summer after newly discovered problems extended the original three-month repair timeline, a library official said. The library, on Pearl Street in downtown Beaumont, has been closed since rainwater and humidity from post-storm power outages caused mold, mildew and fungus to spread through the ceiling tiles and arched beams on the 91-year-old side of the building.
