Canyon Independent School District Board of Trustees decided to move forward with becoming a District of Innovation after a public hearing Monday. Trustees voted unanimously to form a committee to create a local innovation plan that will allow Canyon ISD to claim exemption from parts of the Texas Education Code. After a plan is drafted, it must be posted online for 30 days and sent to the state’s commissioner of education.
