An improperly discarded cigarette ignited a Colorado Springs house Wednesday morning, according to the city's Fire Department. The fire was reported shortly before 10 a.m. at 322 W. Platte Ave., just west of downtown. The homeowner threw a cigarette in his backyard after smoking but it was not properly discarded, said Fire Capt.
