The new J-16 fighters have the ability to transform China's air force into an offensive rather than defensive force, according to experts. In particular, these fighter jets could play a role in keeping the US at bay in a conflict with Taiwan. China’s expanding line-up of multirole, all-weather J-16 fighter jets will help the air force to launch strikes deep into enemy territory and destroy key strategic assets like airfields and bridges, military analysts say.
