“The Biden campaign is launching a seven-figure ad blitz in battleground states on Wednesday slamming the U. S. Supreme Court’s immunity decision and warning of former President Trump’s threat to be a ‘dictator,'” Axios reports.
Joe Klein: “I am a Democrat by default. I can’t be a Republican because of Donald Trump. Donald Trump insults my intelligence. He tells the most blatant and ridiculous lies. He says stupid and cruel things as easy as he breathes. Joe Biden has been an honorable public servant, but he is a politician and part of the job description is to spin—to invent plausible explanations for mistakes made.”
“But Biden’s campaign and, sadly, the President himself have wandered into Trumpland this past week: They are insulting our intelligence.
“Donald Trump and his campaign hope President Biden stays in the race, believing they can beat him even with Trump’s felony conviction and other charges. But they are also ramping up attacks on Vice President Harris,” the Washington Post reports.
“Publicly, Trump and his allies have dismissed suggestions that Biden could withdraw from the race, insisting that it is too late for Democrats to change course.
“As President Joe Biden’s campaign tries to calm nervous Democrats, the Democratic National Committee is circulating talking points that misleadingly suggest there is no procedural means of replacing the president at the top of the party’s ticket — without sharing the path ahead if he were to step aside,” CNBC reports.
“But as the party’s rules stand now, according to three people who are familiar with them and the DNC’s 2022 document outlining procedures for the convention, there is a process for replacing Biden if he voluntarily chooses to step aside after the Aug.
“And so I come full circle on this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution — which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
— Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts, in a statement.
“Dozens of Democratic lawmakers are considering signing a letter demanding President Joe Biden withdraw from the race, a senior party official said, as panic mounts that he’ll cost them control of Congress,” Bloomberg reports.
“Biden is rapidly losing the support of Democratic lawmakers and candidates concerned the 81-year-old’s continued candidacy would lead to a Republican sweep of Washington and an unchecked Donald Trump presidency.”
