Charter Communications is seeking to enter the wireless business, with plans to launch a Wi-Fi based phone service. Charter CEO Tom Rutledge said at an investor conference in New York Wednesday that the company has asked to activate an agreement with Verizon Communications Inc. that would allow the cable company to lease Verizon's airwaves on a wholesale basis, the Wall Street Journal reports. Charter inherited the agreement with Verizon through its acquisition of Time Warner Cable.
