The company that abruptly closed three Acclaim Academy charter schools, including one in Duval County, weeks before the end of the school year, recently sought protection under Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Acclaim Academy of Florida owes more than $2.5 million but has only $82,000 in the bank and is owed $162,000 in refunds, court documents show. Over the past three years Acclaims schools in Duval, Orange and Osceola counties generated $13.4 million in revenues.
