Beaumont ISD identified several vulnerabilities in its internal financial controls before the Texas Education Agency released its withering preliminary report of the district's financial operations, the superintendent said at Monday's school board meeting. The preliminary report - issued March 7 - condemned the school board, superintendent and outside auditor for failing to admit to multiple acts of fraud that required outside law enforcement to identify. Investigators said the school board and Chargois failed to enforce proper internal controls to protect the district's financial assets, which violates the education code.
