Boys basketball: Kelso 73, Hudson’s Bay 64

Shaw Anderson scored 31 points as Kelso used a huge advantage at the free throw line to beat Hudson’s Bay.
The Hilanders hit 25 of 37 free throws — Anderson was 11 of 13 — compared to Bay’s 6 of 7.
The Eagles stayed close by hitting 10 3-pointers. Eli Hoover made five to lead Bay with 26 points.
KELSO 73, HUDSON’S BAY 64

 

Boys basketball: King’s Way Christian 59, Castle Rock 13

King’s Way Christian used balanced scoring and stifling defense to roll to a Trico League win.
Khal Cason, Gage Koenders and Kefentse Cason scored 11 points each to lead the Knights. Khal Cason also added eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Brady Metz had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Ethan Smith breaks Union’s single-game 3-point record in win over Camas

CAMAS — Ethan Smith had tied the Union single game record for 3-pointers multiple times over the last two seasons, and hoped at some point, he would eventually break it.
Friday was his night.
Smith his eight 3s on his way to a game-high 28 points to lead the Titans past Camas 82-68 to further extend their unbeaten season to 17-0.
“Last year when I hit seven a few times I just figured there was going to be one game where the dam was going to break,” Smith said. “Tonight was that game.”

 

Girls basketball: Hockinson 53, Mark Morris 37

Freshman Kylie Ritter had 10 points, seven rebounds and 10 steals — the second highest game total for steals in school history — as the Hawks used its defense to overcome a poor shooting night.
Hockinson got 30 steals on the night. Mackie Kelly paced the Hawks with 13 points.
Jasmine Shigeno hit two 3-pointers to pull with one of the school record for 3-pointers in the season, held by Peyton Wangler.

Girls basketball: Hudson’s Bay 52, Kelso 44

Hudson’s Bay turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to rally for a key 3A Greater St. Helens League win.
Kelso led 25-19 at halftime, but Bay held the Hilanders to two points in the third quarter to seize a 29-27 lead.
“Kelso did a great job preparing for us,” Bay coach Mike Mikeymike said. “They covered our shooters really well in the first half. In the second half, we got some points out of some of our other girls, played terrific defense in the third quarter and made our free throws in the fourth quarter.”

 

Boys basketball: Stevenson 78, Columbia-White Salmon 56

Isaac Hoidal scored 23 points and Jono Blackledge added 17 as the Bulldogs got contributions from throughout the roster for a Trico League win.

Girls basketball: Skyview 66, Heritage 52

Emily Norton scored 26 points to lead short-handed Skyview to a 4A Greater St. Helens League home win.
With its two leading scorers sidelined by injury, Skyview bombed away from long range. Norton made five 3-pointers in the first quarter and eight of her team’s 12 for the game.
“I was really impressed with the whole team,” Skyview coach Brett Johnson said. “They passed the ball well. Emily was hot and they knew to get her the ball.”
Maddie Hendricks added 14 point for Skyview (14-3, 3-2).
