A car was badly damaged after it caught fire Monday afternoon at Huntley Auto Repair at 10369 Vine St. Battalion Chief Mike Pierce said firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 4:46 p.m. A customer who brought the car to Huntley Auto Repair went inside the business to talk to a mechanic, Pierce said. When the customer came back outside, they noticed sparks coming from the bottom of the car. By the time the Huntley Fire Protection District got there, the car was "fully engulfed" in flames, Pierce said. While the car, a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, is a total loss, Pierce said there was no damage to the Huntley Auto Repair building or any people. "Luckily, the wind was blowing in the right direction, and kept the flames away from the building," Pierce said. Information on what caused the fire was not immediately available. The fire was extinguished by 4:56 p.m.
