A car burst into flames following traffic accident on the San Mateo bridge Sunday afternoon, causing a major backup on the eastbound side of the span, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident was first reported just before 3 p.m. west of the toll plaza. One person was reportedly injured and transported to Eden Medical Center with moderate injuries. One lane was blocked for more than an hour, backing traffic up across the bridge. All lanes were expected to be reopened shortly after 4 p.m. Jill Tucker is a San Francisco Chronicle staff writer.
