On Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, to kick off the San Diego Symphony’s nearly monthlong Upright & Grand Piano Festival, Karina Canellakis will conduct “All About the Piano: Rhapsody in Blue,” featuring pianist Marc-André Hamelin. Canellakis is looking forward to working with Hamelin, whom she admires. In addition to the classic by George Gershwin, the Friday and Sunday concerts will include works by Rachmaninoff and Debussy.
