The CWs new drama The Vampire Diaries is the networks biggest hit ever -- but is the show just a fleeting case of vampire fever? Filled with teen angst, crows, and pensive moments in cemeteries, the show is a deliciously fun throwback to the old WB shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawsons Creek, and Everwood -- which is no surprise, since executive producer Kevin Williamson spent a long time paddling up that famous Creek. America has gone a little vampire-crazy, with HBOs edgy True Blood and the tween mega-franchise Twilight.
