Campaign Cash: Toomey With Edge, Democrats Hoard Cash

(AP) — Campaign finance reports for fundraising and spending activity through Dec. 31 were due Monday for candidates for state and federal office. The field of Democrats vying to challenge Democratic incumbent Kathleen Kane is expected to be at least three-deep, and Kane herself has said she is considering running again. Democrat John Morganelli reported that he entered 2016 with $512,000, most of it — $430,000 — from his campaign account for his current office, Northampton County district attorney. Republican John Rafferty, a state senator from Montgomery County who is endorsed by the party, reported entering 2016 with about $33,000 in his campaign account for attorney general after raising $188,000 and spending $250,000 in the seven months leading up to Dec.
