California Nearly Out Of Cash, State Official Warns

Despite the budget fix enacted in February, the state is $20 billion short of what it needs to pay its bills over the next several months, says Mac Taylor, the Legislature's chief budget analyst. California has an unprecedented cash crisis and could run out of money at the end of next month if lawmakers and the governor do not act to stop the financial hemorrhaging, according to a new forecast by the Legislature's chief budget analyst.
