Akron police responded around midnight Tuesday to a burglary alarm at Vans Tire at 682 South Canton Road and found the garage bay door open.When the owner arrived, he told police a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire was missing along with $26 cash and tools.About an hour later, officers spotted the Pontiac Sunfire on Ellet Avenue and the driver refused to pull over.After a brief chase, the suspect drove off the roadway and hit a utility pole near the intersection of Wirth and Shelburn avenues.The vehicle’s driver, Mark Dolinar, 59, of Sieber Avenue in Akron, was taken into custody without incident.Officers found $26 in cash and a pair of pliers in Dolinar’s pockets.Dolinar was charged with breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, theft of a motor vehicle, willful flee and driving under a suspended license.
