Bumgarner Pitches, Hits Giants To 6-3 Win

SAN FRANCISO (AP) — Madison Bumgarner pitched into the eighth inning and hit his eighth career homer, helping the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 on Sunday. Arenado extended his hitting streak to 15 games and set a franchise record for consecutive games (12) with at least one hit and one run scored. Posey's two-run single in the third put the Giants ahead to stay. Colorado right-hander Kyle Kendrick (3-10) was charged with five runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. Bumgarner struck out Brandon Barnes in the second for his 1,000th strikeout, prompting a standing ovation. Giants: RHP Tim Lincecum will need at least a week to recover from a contusion on his right forearm, the result of getting hit by a line drive Saturday. OF Hunter Pence played catch for the first time since returning to the DL with soreness in his left wrist.
