Polk County School Board members Tuesday approved the proposed property tax rate and tentative budget for 2016-17 fiscal year with the unassigned fund balance at the level they want, but the upcoming year will still be financially difficult. With 6-0 votes, the board approved a property tax rate of $6.797 per $1,000 of taxable property value and the $1.2 billion budget.
