SAN ANGELO, Texas - Emmy-nominated filmmaker John J. Valadez is screening his new 30-minute film for PBS, “The Head of Joaquin Murrieta,” Thursday at Angelo State University as part of its “Latino Americans: 500 Years of History” series. The film uses both fiction and documentary storytelling to reveal and revisit the history of lynching of Mexican-Americans in the Southwest, according to an ASU news release.
