Boys Basketball: Prairie 65, Peninsula 59

Dante Heitschmidt scored 19 points, including a pivotal dunk off transition late, as the Falcons rallied to keep their state tournament hopes alive. On Thursday, Prairie (17-6) will face Capital of Olympia (17-6), 60-44 winner over Hudson’s Bay on Tuesday, for a berth to the regional round of the state tournament. Prairie trailed 35-24 at halftime, and the Seahawks still held a 54-47 lead with 6:49 left in the game. But Prairie took a 57-56 lead with 2:25 left, then Heitschmidt’s dunk on the fast break put Prairie up 59-56.
