With the clock at zero, Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels launched a 52-yard Hail Mary that bounced off Chicago defenders into the waiting arms of Noah Brown to give the Commanders an 18-15 win.
Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, outdueled the No.
Stat line: 28 for 37, 277 passing yards, three touchdowns, four carries, five yards, one touchdown
Highlight: Nix’s touchdown pass to Adam Trautman in the second quarter was the highlight of the game. With seven minutes to go in the quarter, Nix threw a beautiful pass to Trautman, slipping the ball past linebacker Trevin Wallace before the veteran tight end made the one-handed grab.
Lowlight: Out of the sacks Nix has taken this season, the worst one came in the first quarter on Sunday.
Initial thoughts from the Broncos’ 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 at Empower Field:
Lil’ mistake: How do you lose a game as a 13-point favorite? Well, turning the ball over on the first possession of the game is a good (or bad) place to start. So, of course, that’s just what Denver did on Sunday, with Carolina defensive tackle Shy Tuttle punching the ball away from Sean Payton favorite Lil’Jordan Humphrey on an 8-yard reception near midfield.
OFFENSE — A-
Bo Nix authored easily his best pro performance to date, accounting for four total touchdowns. With hardly any pressure to worry about, the rookie quarterback stood in the pocket and threw darts around the field. It marked just the second time the Broncos have scored four offensive touchdowns in a game under head coach Sean Payton and the fourth time in the past three seasons.
