Bleach Chemical Spills In South Charleston

Staff report A tanker trunk overturned Sunday afternoon in South Charleston, spilling about 50 gallons of a chemical used to make chlorine bleach. The spill, of a sodium hypochlorite solution, occurred around the intersection of Union Carbide and Hendrickson drive at around 1:45 p.m.State Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman Kelley Gillenwater said none of the chemical solution entered any water source.
