It’s a new year so it is nice that the first ridiculous story of 2025 has arrived so early. So let’s first get the crux of the matter out of the way and then get into the reasons for the issue. The big Marvel Rivals news of the day – players can’t mention the iconic Disney character Winnie the Pooh in the chat.
Marvel Rivals had a remarkably successful launch at the tail end of last year and 2025 could be the year it cements itself into one of the mainstays of the hero-shooter genre.
Many live service games have quickly fallen by the wayside, but beyond the obvious Marvel tie-in, Rivals gets a lot of other things right.
The acid test though may well come with the launch of it’s first season – the catchily titled Season 1 – but what do we know about it and, more importantly, when can we play it?
Marvel Rivals Season 1
Following on from its Winter Celebration event, which was a nice test run of what is to come for Marvel Rivals, the new year will quickly get underway with the first season.
Many people were hoping that Ubisoft was set to announce a new Splinter Cell game at last year’s end-of-year Game Awards jamboree but to no avail. It has been more than a decade since we last had a new entry in the iconic Tom Clancy franchise and it would certainly seem that that apple is now ripe for being picked and it may well be that the rumors of a Splinter Cell revival are correct, at least partially as it looks as as though we may get to don those green night vision goggles once more – albeit as a skin in, you guessed it, Fortnite.
Much to the annoyance of many a fan of the OG franchise, if rumors are true Ubisoft is collabbing with Epic and Fortnite to bring Splinter Cell into the Battle Royale.
