Popular quarterly Lucky Peach dominated the journalism awards, earning five wins, including one for East Bay food writer John Birdsall, whose essay "America, Your Food Is So Gay" won the food and culture writing award. Civil Eats, a Bay Area website focused on sustainable food and agriculture issues, was named publication of the year.
