The annual school district spelling bee ended in the joy of victory for Catherine Nguyen of Bartlett STEM Academy and the agony of defeat for 40 other top spellers from area middle and elementary schools on Tuesday night. Nguyen spelled “accommodate” for the win after a mind-numbing, 90-word spell-off round with formidable opponent Catherine Knight of Coastal Middle. “I studied really hard,” Nguyen said.
