Awash In Washougal As Columbia River Rises

High water in the Columbia River swamped portions of Captain William Clark Regional Park at Cottonwood Beach in Washougal. “Walking out to the river, the water was knee high through the park, and quite a few wood ducks and Canadian geese were swimming near the picnic tables and group picnic shelters,” said Kevin Paff, who took these photos of his son, Austin Paff, and his wife, Shanna Paff, on Wednesday. The Columbia is forecast to fluctuate just below and above flood stage with minor flooding of low-lying areas continue through much of the week.
