NEW YORK -- For the class of 2010, graduation marked a harsh introduction to a cruel reality: the highest average debt load on record and a 9.1 percent unemployment rate. Student loan debt continues to climb, according to a report released early Thursday morning by the Project on Student Debt; college students who graduated in 2010 owed an average of $25,250.The report found that the average debt owed marked not only a 5 percent increase from the previous year's graduating class, but also the highest amount on record.
