CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Attorney General Patrick Morrisey says his office has been made aware of a scam targeting nannies. Here's how it works: People advertising nanny services online are contacted by someone posing as a person who wants to hire them. The scammer sends the caregiver a check and asks him or her to deposit it, keep some money for their services, and send the rest to someone else to supposedly pay for special items or medical equipment.Weeks can pass before the bank discovers the check is counterfeit.
