NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of California-based semiconductor company Atmel Corp. surged in premarket trading Monday after disclosing it has accepted an offer worth about $4.6 billion in cash and stock from Britain's Dialog Semiconductor. Atmel shares jumped $1.12, or 15.4 percent, to $8.39 in premarket trading about before 30 minutes the market open. Dialog provides circuitry used in smartphone, tablet, LED lighting and Smart Home applications.
