HENDERSON, Nev. — Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell is expected to be out four to six weeks with a broken thumb, a person close to the situation said Monday.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Raiders have not made an announcement.
The person also said the injury to O’Connell, expected to be placed on injured reserve, wasn’t as bad as originally feared because of the location of the break in his throwing hand.
Renck: Lost in a quiet offseason, questionable defense and Jamal Murray’s fitness, did the Nuggets find the Strawther than stirs the drink? Or at least the Liquid IV to caffeinate the bench? The Nuggets dropped four of their five preseason games, but there has been one positive development: the improvement of second-year pro Julian Strawther.
The Colorado men’s basketball team still has plenty of goals ahead in the 2024-25 season.
The Buffaloes certainly want to prove the Big 12 Conference coaches wrong after getting selected 15th in the 16-team league’s preseason poll, and CU hopes to surprise a few of the league’s powerhouses along the way.
Yet a glimpse of the future of the CU men’s basketball program was on display during Saturday’s exhibition matchup against Pomona-Pitzer.
It was a good workout but hardly a significant test for the Buffs, who cruised to a 95-62 victory.

More than halfway through the season, it’s clear that the Colorado offensive line is going to be a continual work in progress.
On Saturday, however, the line played an integral role in the Buffaloes’ 34-7 dismantling of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
“That’s something that we focused on, as well,” head coach Deion Sanders of the line’s performance.
Alejandro Mata seems to have found a groove in recent weeks and on Monday he was rewarded for his most recent performance.
Colorado’s junior kicker was named the Big 12 special teams player of the week after hitting both of his field goal attempts and all four extra points in a 34-7 win at Arizona on Saturday.
“Mata was outstanding today,” CU head coach Deion Sanders said after the game.
This is the third conference player of the week honor of Mata’s career.
