ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An Assembly hearing on the state prison system is expected to examine the recent escape of two killers from a maximum-security facility, alleged abuse by guards and the quality of mental health care for inmates. Corrections Committee Chairman Daniel O'Donnell says Wednesday's hearing will focus on oversight of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and examine both internal and external options for investigations help ensure staff and inmate safety and department integrity.
