It has been a year since Roe v. Wade was overturned. We continue to move backward on women’s rights. How many people realize that before restrictive laws took away their rights, women in Iran and Afghanistan were able to wear modern clothing that showed their legs and stomachs and they could choose whether or not to wear a hijab, a head covering? Unfortunately, those rights were taken away, and today, they are denied the freedom to show their heads in public without fear of being jailed or even killed, and in Afghanistan, women are denied the opportunity of a higher education.
