Amazon.com has tried to negotiate a back-door deal with California, promising two distribution centers and 1,000 new jobs if the state repeals the online tax collection law that took effect July 1. According to the Los Angeles Times, Amazon lobbyists have met with members of the California Retailers Association to gauge their interest in such a deal.
